Job Description

Johnson Controls is currently hiring experienced and qualified candidate for the job role of Project Engineer Fire & Security, Marine Aftermarket in Dubai. Candidate will  be based in Dubai and will be reporting to Service manager GMOS-MEA, control execution of assigned projects and service jobs for Marine business. Candidate will act as the Subject Matter expert and primary on-site leader for execution teams assigned. Job holder will help gain experience in Project management while contribute to customers and field operations team. Job holder will be accountable to maximize revenue and profitability by focusing and driving operational excellence and execution within either field operations or installation and thus ensure to achieve gross margin and productivity levels on existing contracts.

Responsibilities of Project Engineer Fire & Security

  • Using technical skills and expertise to support & development of service and Retrofit projects.
  • Will lead site surveys & bring out the report for the Sales team to submit the proposal or to carry out the actual job onboard.
  • Depending on the project size will lead a multi-disciplined team of site engineers, technicians & designers.
  • Will be responsible for creating sequence of operations, bill of materials, project plan & arranging other related documents such as flow diagrams, network layouts & electrical schematics etc. as required.
  • Accountable for staffing & capacity planning of the project delivery teams and for ensuring effective utilization of manpower & overall resources.
  • Interfaces with the Field delivery team to control manpower to proper staffing levels, where needed.
  • Coordinate and create necessary drawings & equipment schedules for submittals, installation & manage selection, ordering, warehousing & logistics of materials as required for the project.
  • Responsible for flawless & profitable project execution in compliance with contractual obligations & Pro-actively manages risks to project & margin achievability through analyzing financial reporting systems & project schedules.
  • Investigate opportunities for improvements in the project scope that will result in value added change orders.
  • Perform associated cost estimates, prepare proposals & secure customer acceptance.
  • Involved in pre-bid process, assesses potential risks to project and margin achievability and provides the field sales organization with objective and reliable information related to engineering design, cost of labor, material and subcontractors, etc.
  • Assist in the pre-sale’s development process, including plan and spec and negotiated scope sales and provides technical sales assistance to an opportunity in the sales process.

Requirements for Role of Project Engineer Fire & Security

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or an associate degree in a related technical field.
  • Minimum 12 years’ experience in Fire and complex security package project execution/management as a project engineer.
  • 5-6 years of experience as a service/project engineer in maritime/offshore industry is a plus.
  • Experienced in estimation & preparation of BOQ for Fire & security systems according to latest marine and offshore standards.
  • Profound understanding of Fire detection, suppression, PAGA & Security systems & various marine & offshore classification body requirements.
  • Experience in handling EDS and cyber security concepts will be a plus.
  • Experience with project management software and tools, especially project planning ones.
  • Hands-on experience with Fire & security system installation, commissioning, troubleshooting & familiarity with HVAC control systems for retrofit, replacement & new build projects.
  • PMP certified.

Skills And Knowledge Desired

  • Strong project management skills, including the ability to plan, schedule, and execute HVAC projects from conception to completion.
  • Basic knowledge of Technical design and engineering.
  • Proficiency in budgeting, cost estimation and financial management for HVAC projects.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills and business acumen.
  • Effective communication skills for collaborating with clients, contractors, architects and other stakeholders.
  • Fluent in English.
  • EHS Awareness, Problem-Solving Skills, Understanding of QA/QC requirements, Documentation & Reporting, etc.
