Job Overview of A Procurement Officer
Procurement administrators support their procurement teams by performing administrative duties and ordering equipment and materials for their projects. Working in this position involves organizing and making purchase orders, keeping records updated, storing documents and solving order issues.
Your Duties As A Procurement Officer
- Understand the procurement process (requisition, ordering, expediting and inspection of goods logistics/shipment, port clearance processes and related documentation, invoice settlement) and ensure strict adherence to the same.
- Overseeing and supervising employees and all activities of the purchasing department.
- Preparing plans for the purchase of equipment, services and supplies.
- Following and enforcing the company’s procurement policies and procedures.
- Reviewing, comparing, analyzing and approving products and services to be purchased.
- Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
- Maintaining and updating supplier information such as qualifications, delivery times, product ranges etc.
- Maintaining good supplier relations and negotiating contracts.
- Researching and evaluating prospective suppliers.
- Preparing budgets, cost analyses and reports.
- Use SAP ERP system for executing procurement transactions.
- Being aware of the current policies and procedures and responsibilities for protecting corporate assets.
- Using corporate resources only for intended purposes as defined by policies and procedures of Etihad Rail.

Qualification
- High School Diploma.
Professional Qualifications
- A member of a recognized purchasing institute.
- SAP experience.
Experience
- 5 plus years of experience as a procurement officer or in a similar position.
- Regional GCC experience of 1-2 years in railway industry or 5 years in other local industries is required.
Skills Desired
- English or advanced level of written and verbal skills.
- Excellent skills in MS Excel, word, PowerPoint and other MS Applications.
- Ability to multi task.
- Experience with working in time pressure.
- Willingness to develop and learn.
- Attention to detail.
