Job Description
The American University of Sharjah is seeking a highly skilled and detail oriented Contract Engineer to join their Procurement & Logistics Department. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing, negotiating, and managing contracts with suppliers and vendors to ensure the timely and cost effective acquisition of goods and services required by the company. This role requires a deep understanding of contract law, procurement processes, and technical specifications, combined with excellent negotiation and project management skills.
Responsibilities of Procurement & Logistics Engineer
- Develop and implement effective contract management strategies and procedures to support procurement activities.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including engineering, finance and project management teams, to understand project requirements and specifications.
- Draft, review and negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers and vendors, ensuring they meet company standards and project needs.
- Conduct market research and supplier evaluations to identify potential vendors and suppliers.
- Manage the tendering process, including issuing Request for Proposals (RFPs), evaluating bids and selecting suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with legal requirements, company policies, and industry standards throughout the contract lifecycle.
- Monitor contract performance, including supplier compliance, delivery schedules, and quality of goods and services.
- Manage contract amendments, extensions, terminations, and renewals as required.
- Resolve any contract related issues or disputes in a timely and effective manner.
- Maintain accurate and up to date records of all contracts and related documentation.
- Provide regular reports on contract status, performance, and procurement outcomes to senior management.
Job Requirements of Procurement & Logistics Engineer
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Law, Business Administration or a related field.
- Minimum of 6 years proven experience as a Contract Engineer, Contract Manager, or similar role, preferably in the academic sector.
Skills & Knowledge Desired
- Strong understanding of contract law, procurement processes, and technical specifications.
- Excellent negotiation, analytical, and problem solving skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively with cross functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and contract management software.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
