Responsibilities of Principal Transportation Engineer

• Preparation of traffic study reports and impact analysis reports for various road and development projects.
• Conducting Traffic Studies for major roads infrastructure projects involving transportation demand modeling, traffic operations analysis, and public transit planning based on MOTC-LTPD guidelines and procedures for transport studies.
• Update Transport Models and development of conceptual road designs, performs conventional and complex engineering assignments, applying engineering techniques and analyses within a discipline.
• Carrying out demand forecasting and transport model analysis required to assist with the traffic impact studies.
• Work closely with related teams and develop traffic congestion management plans by providing data and technical support as needed.
• Performing micro-simulation modelling analysis for road intersections corridors, bus facilities and development sites.
• Preparation and coordination for data collection tasks required for traffic studies including traffic counts surveys.
• Provides input and technical guidance to traffic engineers and CAD Designer/Drafters, Designers working on the same project.
• Performs other responsibilities associated with this position as may be appropriate.

Education & Experience of Principal Transportation Engineer

• Degree in civil/transportation engineering from a recognized institution.
• Minimum 15 years’ experience in traffic operations and analysis of various traffic projects preferably in Gulf region.
• Must have experience in parking management, parking demand and supply, parking design within buildings, traffic circulations, determining the number of accesses/egresses.
• Must have in-depth experience with Traffic Impact Studies, Traffic Operational Analysis.

Knowledge & Skills

• Potential to perform in a lead capacity, excellent written and oral communications skills, and a familiarity of industry practices and regulations are required.
• Must possess a thorough knowledge of current technology and be able to select and apply appropriate engineering software for use on project.
• A strong understanding of transport modelling, demand forecast and multi-modal methodologies.
• Familiar with UAE and local standards such as Roads & Transport Authority of Dubai guidelines and procedures for transport studies.
• Excellent report writing skills, preparation of presentations.
• Must have excellent written and oral communications skills in English.
