Job Description

The Research Institute of Humanities and Social Sciences (RIHSS) at University of Sharjah is seeking to recruit a Postdoctoral Researcher Associate. The researcher will work within Business and Islamic Finance Research Group (BIFRG) in RIHSS and assist its members in relevant research projects. The researcher will also be responsible for assisting with:

  • Searching pertinent scientific literature as needed,
  • Collecting, preparing and analyzing data,
  • Developing and designing research protocols,
  • Guidance to junior research assistants and students in the group,

Responsibilities of Postdoctoral Research Associate

  • Collaborating with research group members and supporting them internally in line with their ongoing projects and articles.
  • Actively developing appropriate external contacts and networks relevant to the projects and to future funding opportunities.
  • Producing research reports and/or publications as required by the research group.
  • Training research assistants and students.
  • Attending and contributing to relevant meetings.
  • Presenting research outcomes in conferences and workshops.
  • Performing any other related tasks as requested.

Job Requirements of Postdoctoral Research Associate

  • Doctoral Degree in Economics /Finance or related fields,
  • 2 year experience in analyzing qualitative and quantitative data, and writing results,
  • Experience in energy / environmental economics and finance is preferred​​.
  • Relevant publications and research experience,
  • Experience in managing research projects and submitting applications for external grants,

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • Communication and writing skills in English,
  • ​Advanced proficiency in the econometric software programs, i.e. R, STATA and MATLAB,
