Mohammed Bin Rashid University of Medicine and Health Sciences (MBRU) is presently inviting passionate and skilled individual to apply for the Postdoctoral Fellow Position in Microbial Bioinformatics for One Health Antimicrobial Resistance (AMR) Surveillance. Join MBRU’s pioneering research initiative, dedicated to unravelling the complexities of AMR pathogen transmission from a One Health perspective. The project aims to establish a robust framework for wastewater-based AMR surveillance, focusing on the evolution and dissemination of antimicrobial resistance in humans, animals and environment. By leveraging advanced bioinformatics, including cutting-edge sequencing and computational modeling, MBRU’s aspires to uncover critical insights that will shape the future of AMR understanding and mitigation.

Responsibilities of Postdoctoral Fellow

Job Requirements of Postdoctoral Fellow

  • The ideal candidate for this position should possess a Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, Microbiology, or a related field.
  • Candidates with atleast 2 years of background experience in microbial work including laboratory experience and microbial bioinformatics is a plus.
  • Proven expertise in microbial bioinformatics and genomics, demonstrated through prior research or professional experience.
  • Previous experience in microbial laboratory work is desirable.
  • Track record of successful contributions to research projects, particularly in microbial genomics and bioinformatics.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • Proficiency in programming languages relevant to bioinformatics and computational modeling, showcasing the ability to develop and implement innovative pipelines.
  • Ability to analyze complex datasets and conduct computational modeling using advanced bioinformatics tools.
  • Previous involvement in projects aligning with the goals of investigating AMR pathogen transmission in a One Health context.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, coupled with effective collaboration within interdisciplinary teams.
  • Efficient time management skills to meet project deadlines and deliver high quality results within specified timeframes.
