Portfolio Analyst Asset Management at Mashreq Bank UAE is responsible to work within the portfolio management team managing equity portfolios; to generate investment ideas for the portfolios and carry out fundamental valuations of companies.

Responsibilities of Portfolio Analyst Asset Management

Research

  • Conduct regular research reviews as part of a buy-side asset manager based on a predominantly GCC based universe.
  • Generate independent investment ideas and make recommendations for public equity portfolios and discretionary accounts.
  • Remain abreast of results and other material events related to the portfolio companies.
  • Contribute and generate investment strategies to help generate alpha for portfolios.
  • Regularly meet corporate managements of portfolio companies.
  • Maintain relationships within the investment community (buy-side, sell-side, analysts, etc.).

Markets

  • Prepare material for a range of market reporting:
  • Weekly Market Meetings: prepare weekly presentations incorporating market moving news, macro data releases and upcoming key events.
  • Also discuss and strategize regarding portfolio positions for upcoming week.
  • Operational Meetings: Prepare equity & multi-asset monthly PowerPoint including performance, attribution, positioning etc.
  • Investment Committee Meetings: Prepare and present equity positioning and strategy in the investment committee meeting.
  • Quarterly Outlook: Write the quarterly outlook comprising:
  • Summary of equities’ performance during previous quarter.
  • Outlook of equities based on in-house views.

Portfolios

  • Global Multi-Asset ETFs: Rebalance the portfolios on a quarterly basis based on target allocations; rebalance the portfolios following in/outflows; maintain excel sheets & other docs to ensure the portfolios remain close to the target allocations.
  • Equity funds/mandates: Strategize and trade based on guidelines for the public portfolios and discretionary mandates.
  • Trade Allocation Sheets: Complete trade allocation sheets for IPOs
  • NAVs: Check daily NAVs.
  • Dividends: Check quarterly dividend calculations.
  • Trading: execute trades as per the fund strategy and liaise with business support for complete execution.

Client Support Portfolio Analyst Asset Management

  • Factsheets: Check & correct monthly factsheet data; Improve existing factsheet data via automating data from third party service providers to factsheet excel sheets & final PDFs.
  • Client Reports: Complete a wide range of weekly, monthly & quarterly client reports by downloading data from third party service providers & presenting it in the required client friendly format.
  • Improve existing client reports via automating data from third party service providers.
  • Client meetings: Prepare and present quarterly and yearly performance reviews to clients and discuss future strategy.

Business Support

  • Liaise with sales team: Train internal sales team to help with pitching the funds to prospective clients:
  • Equity Team: Core relationship is with the equity team.
  • Business Development: Assist with business development queries from current & prospective clients.
  • Business Support: Assist with business support queries from multiple third-party service providers.
  • Compliance: Operate strictly within the parameters of the internal procedures/controls/SOPs.
  • Risk Management: Ensure all recommendations and trades are appropriate given internal risk controls & external client investment guidelines.
  • Equity research is core to this role, particularly analyzing portfolio holdings on all public information, eg company records, sell-side research, sector/thematic research, macro trends etc.
  • Automating processes is a required problem-solving skillset.
  • The candidate must have experience automating investment management processes.

Requirements of Portfolio Analyst Asset Management

  • Bachelors degree in Finance, Investment Management, Business Administration, or a related quantitative field.
  • 5 years of experience in regional or international capital markets

Skills and Knowledge Desired

  • Good communication and analytical skills.
  • CFA candidate or Charterholder with strong intellectual skills.
