CAFU UAE is currently hiring highly qualified and experienced candidate for the job position of a Plant Ecologist. The selected candidate will be responsible for leading and conducting advanced research in plant ecology, contributing to the understanding of plant communities, ecosystem dynamics, and environmental sustainability. This role involves designing and implementing research projects, analysing data, and providing leadership and guidance to junior researchers or field teams.

Duties of A Plant Ecologist

Research Design and Implementation

  • Conduct research to understand plant physiology, genetics, ecology, and behavior, identifying suitable species for afforestation projects internationally.
  • Design and execute experiments to investigate plant responses to environmental factors and to growth accelerants from germination to maturity, and other variables.
  • Oversee the implementation of research projects, ensuring adherence to ethical and scientific standards.

Data Collection and Analysis

  • Collect field data on plant populations, species diversity, and environmental variables.
  • Analyse data using statistical and ecological modelling techniques to draw meaningful conclusions and contribute to scientific knowledge, including CO2 sequestering based upon species, maturity and environmental factors.

Project Management

  • Manage research projects, including budgeting, resource allocation, and timeline adherence.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and coordinate efforts with other researchers, ecologists, and professionals.
  • Prepare research findings for publication in scientific journals, presentations at conferences, and other relevant outlets.
  • Effectively communicate research results to both scientific and non-scientific audiences.

Environmental Impact Assessment

  • Investigate/understand the impact of human activities, climate change, and other factors on plant ecosystems.
  • Provide insights into sustainable practices for afforestation and reforestation and conservation.
  • Contribute to the development of policies related to plant ecology, biodiversity, and environmental conservation.
  • Provide expertise and consultation on conservation initiatives and environmental impact assessments.

Mentorship and Training

  • Provide mentorship and guidance to junior researchers, interns, or field teams.
  • Facilitate training programs and workshops related to plant ecology.

Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility requirements for role of Plant Ecologist are as under:

  • Ph.D. in Plant Ecology, Botany, Plant Science, Environmental Science, or a related field.
  • 5+ years post-graduate research experience in plant ecology and/or plant-related projects.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • Strong background in plant physiology, genetics, ecology, or a specialized area of plant science.
  • Demonstrated expertise in fieldwork, experimental design, and data analysis.
  • Excellent project management and leadership skills.
  • Effective communication skills for both scientific and non-scientific audiences.
  • Strong publication record in reputable scientific journals.
  • Proficiency in statistical software and ecological modelling tools.
  • Knowledge of conservation biology, ecosystem management, and environmental policy.
  • Experience working with governmental agencies, non-profit organizations, or research institutions.
