About the Role
The Perioperative Staff Nurse in PACU/Prep Recovery at Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi is responsible for providing general and specialized direct and indirect patient care by applying evidence-based nursing procedures. Furthermore, this role involves demonstrating competency in treating patients’ behavioral, growth, development, and psychosocial needs. Moreover, the nurse ensures safe pre-operative preparation and post-anesthesia recovery for surgical patients of all ages.
Key Responsibilities
- Complete timely patient admission and ongoing assessments in the PACU environment
- Provide direct care and evaluate outcomes incorporating principles of family-centered care
- Monitor and document patients’ condition and effectiveness of care and interventions
- Assess educational needs of patients and significant others considering cultural needs
- Administer prescribed medications following approved policies utilizing barcode scanning
- Carry out prescribed treatments in accordance with approved protocols and procedures
- Validate and document patient and family understanding of teaching
- Support safe recovery from anesthesia for surgical patients
- Coordinate post-operative care transitions with the multidisciplinary team
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Nursing or equivalent qualification is required
- Minimum three (3) year curriculum in Nursing from an accredited program
- Minimum of two (2) years post-graduate experience in general surgery or operating room setting
- Valid and current national nursing license is required
- BLS from AHA or equivalent required; ACLS and PALS within 6 months
- Strong oral and written communication skills with fluency in English
- Experience with electronic medical records is strongly preferred
