A Perfusionist Cardiac at Fakeeh University Hospital performs duties outside the sterile field as patient assessment. He/ she coordinates and implements perfusion procedures and ensures the patient’s safety and comfort. The role holder is legally responsible for any perfusion related problems that arise in the Operating Rooms.

Responsibilities of Perfusionist Cardiac

• Manages patients in the Intensive Care Unit with Intra-Aortic Balloon Pump (IABP).
• Aheres to approved policies as defined by CMC Dubai, DHCC and the Joint Commission International accreditation standards and contributing to their development and revision as necessary to optimize clinical practices.
• The procedures covered include CABG, valve, aortic aneurysm, heart and lung transplantation, ventricular assist devices, and neonatal & pediatric congenital defect surgeries.
• Assembles and operates the heart/lung machine within the safe scope of established clinical practice.
• Manages patient parameters within the accepted safe ranges of established clinical practice.
• Sets-up and operates all available perfusion devices.
• Supports organ transplant procedures and new surgical procedures. Assists in research, animal testing and product evaluation.
• Maintains on-call responsibilities and operating room coverage.

Role Requirements

Following is the eligibility criteria for the role of Perfusionist Cardiac at Fakeeh University Hospital:

• Bachelor’s in Perfusion Technology/ Diploma in Perfusion Technology.
• Minimum of two (2) years of work experience as a Perfusionist.
• Must have performed one hundred (100) independent clinical perfusion procedures.

Job Skills

• Strong organizational skills.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to speak and write in English.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
