Responsibilities of Payroll Accountant
- Process and manage bi-weekly or monthly payroll cycles accurately and efficiently
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
- Verify and reconcile time and attendance data for accuracy
- Process new hires, terminations, and changes to employee information
- Generate and distribute payroll reports to management as needed
- Address employee inquiries related to payroll and benefits
- Collaborate with HR to ensure accurate and timely processing of employee benefits
- Reconcile payroll accounts and resolve discrepancies
- Assist in the preparation of financial reports related to payroll
- Stay informed about changes in payroll laws and regulations
Requirements of Payroll Accountant
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or relevant field
- Previous experience of 1-2 years as a payroll accountant or in a similar role
Skills & Knowledge Desired
- Understanding local and governmental rules about payroll
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office, especially Excel
- Great computational ability
- Attention to detail
- A valid national certification (e.g. Fundamental Payroll Certification)
