About the Role

The Paralegal Officer at SSMC is responsible for assisting lawyers, carrying out legal research, and managing litigation and complaints. Furthermore, the role involves drafting legal documents, maintaining document filing systems, and acting as a liaison between the Legal Department and outside counsel. Moreover, the successful candidate will oversee complaints, facilitate case filings, and ensure SSMC remains compliant with all applicable business process laws.

Key Responsibilities

• Draft legal documents and correspondence for the lawyers’ review and approval
• Organize and maintain documents in paper and electronic filing systems
• Gather and analyze laws, regulations, court decisions, legal articles, and other relevant data
• Investigate case-related factual issues using in-house files and outside reference sources
• Coordinate the collection, review, and production of legal documents
• Direct and coordinate external law firms’ activity including delivery and receipt of legal documentation
• Oversee complaints lodged by employees or other affected parties to assist lawyers in legal opinions
• Facilitate and file complaints and cases with the Police and Prosecutor as required
• Attend incident or complaint-related meetings and prepare minutes for the General Counsel
• Compile information and prepare statistics, charts, and summaries detailing legal findings

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree required; Bachelor’s in Law or Business Administration preferred
• Minimum 2-3 years of progressive legal responsibility in a law firm or in-house legal department
• Experience in a large healthcare facility is highly desirable
• Strong knowledge of legal research methods, document management, and compliance procedures
• Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy
• Strong written and verbal communication skills for drafting legal documents
• Ability to provide accurate legal direction to leadership teams and staff
