ObGyn HOD Kanad Hospital Al Ain UAE

Kanad Hospital is hiring an ObGyn HOD with strong leadership skills and someone who upholds their values, preferably Female. The team consists of 24 full time physicians and 5 visiting physicians, and is one of the busiest and biggest departments of the hospital. The hospital is looking for a consultant for this role with laparoscopic skills. Past experience as HOD is preferred but not mandatory, however involvement in committees and other quality works (like JCIA,etc.) is necessary. 

Responsibilities of ObGyn HOD

• Help the general practitioner and specialist in the management of inpatient and outpatients as indicated by the clinical situation during calls and in the clinic and operating room.
• Meet applicable local and national standards, laws, and regulations in providing ObGyn services.
• Be available to meet the needs related to the hospital’s mission and patient population, the community’s health care needs, and emergency needs, including after normal hours.
• Responsible for, and oversee Perinatal safety committee.
• Responsible for monitoring and reviewing all ObGyn services are defined and carried out.

What you’ll do as ObGyn HOD

• Provide prenatal and postnatal care; obtain complete medical, family and obstetrical history and physical data on OB patients and reviews patient records. Do normal GYN care and preventative medicine.
• Treat diseases and injuries of female reproductive system.
• Preparing and reviewing case histories and obtaining data through interviews.
• Perform an obstetrical exam including limited ultra sound and records findings. Assess patients and prepare a plan of care.
• Order, evaluate and review appropriate laboratory tests and diagnostic procedures.
• Perform diagnostic procedures as required.
• See walk in patients and UCC referrals.
• Round in the ward on assigned shifts as applicable. Maintain and update SBAR handover sheet.
• Direct nurses in procedures for preoperative and postoperative care such as administering sedatives, prescribing diets, and preparing operative area of patients.
• Perform appropriate surgical procedures as privileged and treats patients with postoperative complications.
• Supervise the nurses, midwives, and specialist/GP as required.
• Perform normal and instrumental deliveries in maternity cases. OB emergencies, treatment of intrauterine fetal demise, incomplete spontaneous abortion, missed abortion, treatment of pregnancy complications.
• Evaluate and prepare the patient for Cesarean section and perform or assist the surgery.
• You may be asked to participate in satellite clinics.
• Participate in partner clinic4.
• Assist or consult with outside physicians working at Kanad Hospital.

Education & Experience

• Board certified or MD in Ob/Gyn as minimum.
• Minimum experience of 3 years after Board.

Desired Skills

• Laparoscopic and/ Uro-gynecology skills (at least one).
• Excellent organizational and leadership skills.
• Effective management skills.
