Role of Mechanical Engineer

Manage the day to day operations of the mechanical section. Organization, fabrication, repair, maintenance and overhauling of all mechanical equipment installed in pipelines and downstream operations facilities in accordance with overall maintenance plan. Support achievement of optimum plant integrity and reliability and effective upkeep of assets, ensuring adherence to HSE&S guidelines.

Duties of Mechanical Engineer

• Participate in identifying and planning for resources, material/equipment required for any mechanical maintenance and management activities. Coordinate for the timely availability of all required resources. Familiarize and support as required various utilities equipment maintenance including ROW.
• Prepare daily plans/permits based on periodic work plans, ensuring strict adherence to permit to work (PTW) system. Check to ensure conformity to standards. Carry out the preparation of detailed check lists for each maintenance cycle and the estimation of detailed man hours and skills for such work.
• Monitor the financial performance of a given area of activity versus budgets so that areas of unsatisfactory performance are identified and rectified promptly. Potential performance improvement opportunities are capitalized upon. Compile/provide input for preparation of division/department Capital, Operating and 5 Year Plan budgets, and monitors/controls expenditure.
• Carry out effective day- to- day scheduling of works and necessary resources while assigning and reviewing work performed by technicians and contractors. Ensure adherence to defined operational requirements and quality standards. Prepare method statements and conduct toolbox meetings for critical jobs and activities.
• Plan, organize and monitor preventive maintenance, long-term plans, scheduled overhauls, breakdown and major repair activities. Facilitate optimum functionality of equipment as per defined quality standards. Optimize mechanical maintenance operations, using best available tools and procedures in order to maximize equipment availability.

What you’ll do

• Maintain, troubleshoot and calibrate all mechanical equipment. Ensure the smooth and trouble-free operation of such equipment in the plant and all related facilities. Participate in the more complex mechanical repairs, such as troubleshooting, identifying, isolating, repairing and testing mechanical components. Coordinate with reliability for improved equipment reliability.
• Inspect, test and validate the condition of equipment upon completion of repairs to confirm readiness, compliance to quality standards.
• Ensure seamless communication across shifts and updating self of the status of plant requirements while managing resources for timely availability of “on-call” duty. Support uninterrupted operations and manage emergency maintenance requirements. Coordinate with relevant departments as required.
• Perform site inspections on regular basis to follow-up on work progress of all mechanical engineering aspect. Ensure that work progress is carried out as per approved work schedule, and that appropriate resources are allocated as per the contractual agreement.
• Plan, organize and participate in the execution of minor projects and modifications in liaison with Improvement Projects to optimize asset efficiency. Identify areas of concern and propose dedicated maintenance procedures to follow-up their resolution to improve Pipeline Integrity. Review network modification proposals and design documents regarding material selection and mechanical integrity, perform shop and field inspections and review QA/QC documents, method statements etc. during modification execution.
• Effectively utilize the SAP System to prepare job plans including material and manpower.
• Initiate IRs, execute maintenance and breakdown work orders and input failure reports ensuring accuracy and comprehensiveness of data. Periodic review of SAP history for correctness of data, analysis and recommendation for improvement.
• Carryout troubleshooting and maintenance of air compressors and diesel generators.
• Demonstrate visible commitment to HSE by periodically leading / taking part in risk assessments, audits, HSE meetings, emergency drills, etc.
• Ensure assigned staff complies with all company HSE policies & procedures and related initiatives.

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering.
• 3-4 years of clinical experience.
