An exciting job opportunity has been announced by SAAB for the job role of Mechanical Design Team Leader in Abu Dhabi. The selected candidate will take technical leadership in the design and development of mechanical parts, systems, and processes for sophisticated radar and telecommunications products. To prioritise work within the team, steering the technical endeavors of mechanical design and analyst engineers.

Duties of A Mechanical Design Team Leader

• Formulate, prioritise, and document mechanical design work packages from project deliverables and system requirements.
• Establish and document mechanical requirements, specifications, and verification test plans of internally developed products.
• Coordinate capacity and capabilities of the team to establish technically relevant design results.
• Lead the team through the phase-gate process of product development.
• Ensure the existence of agreed internal design standard and guidelines for CAD/CAE tools, configuration management, and Saab’s product development processes.
• Actively contribute to the development and implementation of the technical roadmap for the team.

Requirements of Mechanical Design Team Leader

The requirements for role of Mechanical Design Team Leader are as under:

• Academic degree in mechanical, aeronautical, or equivalent engineering discipline, emphasising technical design and product development.
• 2-3 years of experience in a relevant field.
• Extensive experience developing mechanical system and products.

• Proven history of leading and mentoring multidisciplinary teams.
• Demonstrated leadership and communication skills, with the ability to inspire and influence technical personnel.
• Clear and effective communication skills in English.
• Profound knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, design standards, and best practices.
• Proficiency in the use of CAD/CAE tools – Preferably Solidworks, Siemens NX, or CATIA.
• Understanding of project management tools and methodologies, particularly in risk management and resource planning.
• Application of FMEA methodologies in product development.
• Strong grasp of dimensioning and tolerancing, focus on ISO General Product Specifications GPS.
• Solid foundation in materials, manufacturing processes, and prototyping.
• In-depth understanding of engineering development cycles.
• Operational proficiency of configuration control, change management, and CAD data structure.
