Job Description
Materials and Storage Management Supervisor at Khalifa University is responsible to plans, organizes, and implements inventory operations and procedures, supervises Physical Inventory Count and performs supervisory, technical and administrative duties in the materials procurement and warehousing operations.
Duties of Materials & Storage Management Supervisor
Operational Responsibilities
- Oversee the day to day operations of the University’s warehouses.
- Develop the inventory management strategy of KU aiming at controlling costs within budgetary limits, generating savings, rationalizing inventory, and maximizing available working capital.
- Develop and maintain appropriate written procedures for all main inventory control processes and functions to ensure that all incoming products are received and managed according to these procedures for control purposes.
- Manage and maintain KU materials and stocked products inventory including stock profiles and stock locations.
- Reconcile the inventory records for a complete and accurate count.
- Oversee the receiving and in logging of all incoming inventory purchases including classifying, labeling, and warehousing all inventories for future use.
- Manage and control perpetual inventory stock counting, inventory accuracy checks in order to minimize overstocks and removal of obsolete/redundant raw materials to maximize availability of working capital.
- Ensure that goods inward, stock control is well organized and controlled and that materials are ready and available for delivery as and when required.
- Provide routine management information on inventory performance (i.e.) consumables usage & costs, material utilization and scrap, all transfers, and disposal.
- Adhere to the University’s information security and confidentiality policies and procedures and report breaches or other security risks accordingly.
- Coordinate with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities, as and when needed.
- Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
Supervisory Responsibilities
- Provide coaching, guidance, and mentoring as required to enhance the internal capabilities of the team and ensure the achievement of established objectives and plans.
- Build and sustain a competent and confident team by interfacing with the Chartered Institute of Procurement and Supply (CIPS) global leaders in Procurement and Supply Chain to identify, recommend, and implement appropriate training courses for continuous coaching and building of team competencies, evaluate their effectiveness, and monitor their results.
- Carry out performance appraisals for subordinates according to planned schedules and recommend necessary actions as per the applied practices.
- Conduct periodic meetings with subordinates to ensure that priorities are clear and workflow is running smoothly.
- Follow up on employees’ administrative affairs such as vacations, leaves, and other administrative and related affairs.
Job Requirements of Materials & Storage Management Supervisor
- Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration or any other related field.
- Expats: A minimum 7 to 9 years of relevant experience.
- UAE Nationals: A minimum of 3 to 5 years of relevant experience.
