Khalifa University is presently accepting applications from suitable candidate for the job role of Manager Resident Life. The selected candidate will be responsible to oversees the residential experience, fostering a safe, supportive, and educational environment for students.

Responsibilities of Manager Resident Life

• Plan, organize, and manage the student activities of Resident Life.
• Provide leadership, support, ongoing training, and supervision of hostel coordinators.
• Oversee the annual selection process and regular evaluations to ensure opportunities for student input and feedback, as well as staff development.
• Coach and direct hostel coordinators in their interactions with and support of students.
• Communicate, explain, and clarify residence living standards to students, mediate conflicts, facilitate community, and promote resolution of behavioral problems.
• Counsel students with personal, academic, and career concerns, and make appropriate referrals to campus resources.
• When necessary, serve as a Disciplinary Officer in the context of supporting and developing students.
• Respond to and provide direction in dealing with any student crisis/emergency situation according to University protocols.
• Initiate and implement programs to promote student learning through collaboration with members of the Residence Life Office, Student Housing and Hospitality Services, and the campus community.
• Develop an environment conducive to academic success by coordinating and implementing a community building model in line with Student Housing and Hospitality Services Mission and Values.
• Assess and support residents’ social, academic, and personal needs.
• Establish strategic priorities and plans for student support infrastructure and student development.
• Review and oversee the activities of the Hostel in all aspects of the welfare and safety of residing students, including accommodation, furniture, hygiene, air conditioning, lighting, water supply, gardening, etc.

What Will You Do More

• Carry out regular evaluations of the overall services provided to hostel residents, including recommending ideas to the management for further development and improvements.
• Provide guidance and support to individuals and groups around personal and social issues, with the goal of promoting personal and academic success.
• Engage in appropriate professional associations and stay abreast of new developments in the field. Ensure adherence to the University’s information security policies and procedures, and report breaches or other security risks accordingly.
• Ensure coordination with other departments to facilitate the accomplishment of tasks and responsibilities as and when needed.
• Perform any other tasks assigned by the Line Manager.
• Provide coaching, guidance, and mentoring as required to enhance the internal capabilities of the team and ensure the achievement of established objectives and plans.
• Recommend appropriate training courses as per the predetermined training needs, evaluate their effectiveness, and monitor their results.
• Carry out performance appraisals for subordinates according to planned schedules and recommend necessary actions as per the applied practices.
• Conduct periodic meetings with subordinates to ensure that priorities are clear and workflow is running smoothly.
• Follow up on employees’ administrative affairs such as vacations, leaves, and other administrative and related affairs.
