Manager Aeropolitical Affairs Emirates Airline

Emirates Airlines is actively hiring for the role of Senior Manager Aeropolitical Affairs to join their Aeropolitical and Industry Affairs team. The selected candidate will be responsible to obtain, protect and expand traffic rights and market access for Emirates in the assigned geographical area through direct interactions with the UAE and foreign governments and inter governmental bilateral air services negotiations. Reporting to VP Aeropolitical and Industry Affairs, you will also be promoting Emirates aeropolitical objectives & broader initiatives on liberalisation & competition through advocacy efforts and stakeholder engagements in the UAE and globally.

Responsibilities of A Senior Manager Aeropolitical Affairs

• Prepare aeropolitical positions, requirements and correspondence on traffic rights concerns in assigned area towards the Dubai Civil Aviation Authority/UAE General Civil Aviation Authority and government authorities worldwide.
• Represent Emirates at inter governmental bilateral air services negotiations with countries in the assigned area to protect and expand the airline’s traffic rights and other aeropolitical entitlements.
• Build and maintain healthy relationships with the civil aviation authorities in the UAE and foreign countries to maximise Emirates access to international markets.
• Engage directly with governmental and other stakeholders in the assigned area to promote the airline and its aeropolitical objectives.
• Research, organise and prepare focused briefing notes, advocacy submissions and presentations ahead of inter governmental bilateral air services negotiations and stakeholder meetings to achieve Emirates’ aeropolitical or broader policy objectives in the assigned area.
• Assess emerging international and domestic air transport policies and conduct market research on the airline industry’s activities.
• Represent Emirates at industry forums and broader governmental economic committee meetings to promote the airline’s position on aeropolitics, liberalisatio & competition.
• Draft letters, policy proposals, and briefing notes for senior leadership on key aeropolitical files for high-level negotiations as required.
• Obtain government authorisations and schedule approvals for Emirates’ operations to new destinations.
• Carry out stand alone assignments & projects in aeropolitics, as assigned DSVP International Affairs or VP Aeropolitical and Industry Affairs.
• Provide guidance to aeropolitical Affairs Managers and Analysts within the aeropolitical and Industry Affairs Department.

Qualification Requirements for Role of Manager Aeropolitical Affairs

• Degree or Honours (12+3 or equivalent) in Business, Law, International Relations or a related area.
• 10+ years experience in airline industry with a significant number of these years spent in a managerial/senior capacity.
• In depth experience in bilateral air services negotiations and robust track record of contributing to tangible outcomes.
• Comprehensive experience in drafting effective correspondence, position papers and briefing notes on strategic Aeropolitical and aviation policy issues.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

• Expert knowledge of aeropolitics, bilateral air services agreements and other aeropolitical arrangements.
• Outstanding expertise in advocating and campaigning for airline traffic rights/market access.
• Superb writing skills.
• Demonstrated ability to use and interpret complex data sets in promoting company’s aeropolitical objectives.
• Full attention to detail and accuracy of the presented data as well as written documents.
• Practical awareness of the workings of the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO).
