Job Description

The British School Al Khubairat is currently seeking suitable candidate for position of Learning Assistant. The primary role of the Learning Assistant is to support the learning process under the direction of the Class Teacher or Year Leader. You will also provide administrative support within the classroom/Year
group as necessary and contribute to the safety and wellbeing of the students.

Responsibilities of Learning Assistant

  • To support and encourage pupils to engage with school work and activities under the guidance of the class teacher.
  • To raise the learning and attainment of pupils while also promoting their independence, self esteem, and social inclusion.
  • To become aware of best practice in the classroom and to share good practice throughout the department.
  • Provide in class support and lead small group withdrawal sessions as appropriate.
  • Maintain a stimulating and safe learning environment.
  • Demonstrate basic ICT skills, e.g., using Word, sending emails.
  • Provide administrative support within the classroom and year group.
  • Take part in meetings, assemblies, visits, duties, events as required.

Job Requirements of Learning Assistant

  • A high school diploma or equivalent is typically required.
  • Minimum of 5 GCSEs or equivalent, including Mathematics and English.
  • Minimum 5 year experience in similar role.
  • Experience of working with children would be advantageous.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • To work effectively in a team.
  • To manage time effectively.
  • Good communication skills, orally and in writing.
  • Respect for confidentiality.
  • Patience, versatility, and flexibility.
  • Basic ICT skills.
