Responsibilities of A Lead Weight Control Engineer
- Aware of different aspects of weight control reports and able to review and predict correct weights and advise accordingly.
- Monitoring Consultants/Contractors weights control reports in all projects and advising project Division and project PMT on their quality as well as providing advise on how to improve the weight prediction.
- Coordinate, control and act as an interface within the project team for weights and center of gravity monitoring activities.
- Aware of proportion of weights from different disciplines and able to review and predict the weights received from various disciplines, for different stages of the projects, FEED and Detailed Engineering.
- Review the weight estimates at the beginning of the design activity.
- Continuously monitor the assemblies and subassemblies weights and Centre-of-gravity positions in accordance with applicable Company and Project Specifications.
- Liaise with other disciplines to ensure smooth interfaces and transverse document review.
- Review the documentation issued by Subcontractors (general arrangements, weight datasheets, weight certificates, etc.).
- Lead the weight control and weight reduction workshops and actions follow up.
- Promote innovative solutions should any excess of the not-to-exceed limits occur.
- Prepare and dispatch a weight control reduction report to Company management at a frequence to be defined.
- Report to the Engineering Managers in a timely manner.
Eligibility Requirements
The eligibility requirements for role of a Lead Weight Control Engineer are as under:
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering discipline, preferably Structural.
- 15+ years of relevant experience in the Oil and Gas industry, including at least 5 years’ experience in the (preferred) GCC region
- Must have at least 5 years of experience in a similar position in a mega Oil and Gas or on Offshore Structure projects
- Experience with EPC Stage of projects
- Acquainted with different types of fixed offshore structures, e.g., process platforms, wellhead towers, bridges, flare structures, jackets, building modules, living quarters etc.
- Knowledge of all stages of construction and installation, e.g., yard construction, loadout, transportation, living and float-over.
- Aware of different types of equipment, e.g., compressors, generators, separators, pumps, etc. Involved in large topsides.
- Proficient in English.
