Mubadala Health is presently searching for dedicated candidates for the job position of a Lactation Consultant. The successful aspirant will work at Danat Al Emarat (subsidiary of Mubadala Health) located in Abu Dhabi, UAE. Purpose of A Lactation Consultant

• Plans, teaches, evaluates and counsels for expectant and new breastfeeding mothers.
• Accountable for ensuring all services rendered are consistent with their education and assessed competence, meet legislative requirements and are supported by appropriate standards.
• Understands, supports and promotes the mission vision and values of organization.
• Conducts breast feeding classes for expectant and new breastfeeding mothers.

Duties of A Lactation Consultant

• The Lactation Consultant will be expected to contribute to the wider corporate and organizational development needs as appropriate within the scope of service.
• Leads the hospital to achieve and maintain Mother and Baby Friendly Hospital status.
• Supports community based projects and education.
• The Lactation Consultant will be expected to ensure compliance with the requirement of the Health and Safety regulation of the hospital.
• Plans, organizes and delivers lactation management services to all breastfeeding patients, both in-patient and out-patient.
• Plans, teaches and evaluates expectant and new breastfeeding mothers.
• Creates a milieu that promotes learning for staff and patients.
• Upholds the organizations customer service standards at all time.
• To implement and demonstrate all infection control measures and practice.
• Possesses effective oral, written and IT communication skills.
• Demonstrate knowledge of basic skills and techniques.
• Meets work demands and is able to follow directions accurately.
• Maintains and records the functional integrity of all equipment including but not limited to routine daily, weekly, and monthly checks as well as routine inspection by biomedical engineers and maintenance for these items such as breast pumps.
• Maintains sufficient inventory of material supplies and equipment for performance of duties.
• Reporting shortage of materials to supervisors at earliest convenience, ordering and approving replenishments when necessary.

Eligibility Criteria

Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree in Midwifery or Nursing from an accredited school.
• Registered Midwife preferred.

Certification

• Certified as a Lactation Consultant (IBCLC).

Experience

• At least 3 years’ experience as a lactation consultant.
• At least 6 years’ experience as a Midwife or Registered Nurse.
