Job Description
The College of Computer Information Technology is seeking a dedicated Lab Assistant Network Security to support their Computer Science Department, with a specific focus on network security. This role is ideal for someone passionate about cybersecurity and networking, holding CCNA and/or CCNP certifications, and interested in fostering a hands on learning environment for undergraduate students. The Lab Assistant will work closely with faculty members to manage and configure network labs, supervise lab assignments, and assist in teaching and student support activities.
Responsibilities of Lab Assistant Network Security
- Supervise and manage network security lab assignments and projects for undergraduate students.
- Assist faculty members in configuring and maintaining network labs, including routers, switches, and firewalls.
- Provide technical support and guidance to students during lab sessions/lectures.
- Assist in grading lab assignments and projects with a focus on network security practices and principles.
- Contribute to the development of lab manuals and instructional materials related to network security.
- Participate in the preparation and delivery of teaching materials and workshops as required.
- Ensure compliance with safety and data protection guidelines within the lab environment.
- Perform additional duties related to teaching and student support as assigned.
Job Requirements of Lab Assistant Network Security
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Certification in CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) is required; CCNP (Cisco Certified Network Professional).
- At least 3 years of practical experience.
- Demonstrates experience in network configuration and security, including hands on experience with Cisco networking equipment.
Skills & Knowledge Desired
- Strong understanding of network security principles, protocols, and best practices.
- Ability to explain complex technical concepts in an accessible manner to students of various skill levels.
- Excellent problem solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
