Responsibilities of IT Support Specialist

  • Provide technical support to end users regarding hardware, software, network, and other IT related issues.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware and software problems, including desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Install, configure, and maintain operating systems, applications, and software updates on end user devices.
  • Respond to help desk requests and tickets in a timely and professional manner, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently.
  • Collaborate with IT team members to identify and implement solutions for complex technical issues and system enhancements.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as system backups, antivirus updates, and security patches, to ensure data integrity and system security.
  • Assist in the setup and configuration of new hardware and software, including user accounts, email accounts, and network access.
  • Document and maintain accurate records of IT assets, inventory, and support activities using ticketing systems and asset management tools.
  • Conduct training sessions and provide guidance to end users on IT best practices, security protocols, and use of technology resources.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies, industry trends, and best practices in IT support to continuously improve skills and knowledge.

Requirements of IT Support Specialist

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field preferred.
  • Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Network+, or Microsoft Certified IT Professional (MCITP) are a plus.
  • Proven experience of 1-2 years as an IT Support Specialist or similar role, with a strong technical background in desktop support, troubleshooting, and system administration.

Skills and Knowledge Desired

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Windows and Office applications, Active Directory, and network protocols.
  • Familiarity with hardware components, peripherals, and mobile devices, as well as remote desktop support tools and techniques.
