Responsibilities of IGCSE Teacher

• Embrace and encourage the ethos and standards of excellence as defined in the GEMS Core Values.
• Deliver the required curriculum; demonstrating accurate and up to date knowledge of curriculum and subject matter.
• Plan and deliver quality lessons to motivate students. Create and utilize appropriate materials and the classroom environment to cater for different learning styles.
• Show written evidence of planning and preparation on request. Establish and maintain records of curriculum and year plans, attendance, teaching resources, assessment plans etc.

Job Requirements of IGCSE Teacher

• Junior Level: Bachelors in Arts along with a 2 year Montessori / 2 years – ECCE. Example: BA + ECCE (2 yrs) or BA + B.Ed.
• Intermediate Level: Bachelors & Masters in Arts or Science along with Bachelors in Education, degrees should be in the same teaching subject. Example: BA & MA + B.Ed or B.Sc & M.Sc + B.Ed. , PGCE.
• Senior Level: Specialist subjects teachers such as Dance, Music, Physical Education, Special Education Needs, Art, ICT etc will require a specialist qualification in the teaching subject. Example: BA & MA + B.Ed or B.Sc & M.Sc + B.Ed.
• 2 years of school teaching experience required for all of the above.
• The teaching subject & qualification should match.
• Experience of the IGCSE Curriculum is preferred.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

• An excellent team player both within the department and across phases
• Excellent IT and interpersonal communication skills to work closely with students and parents.
• A creative and enthusiastic approach both in and out of the classroom
• Good command of English.
