Aldar Education is looking to hire suitably skilled and devoted candidate for role of Head Pastoral Care for The Pearl British Academy. The academy announced this job on 22 March 2024 and they’re actively accepting applications.

Responsibilities of Head Pastoral Care

• Plan, develop and lead comprehensive policies, procedures and effective systems to further improve the quality of pastoral provision including Student well being, Behaviour, Learning, Attendance and Punctuality.
• Accountability for ADEK & SEF Standard 2: Students’ Personal Development.
• Accountability for ADEK & SEF Standard 5: Protection, Care Guidance and Support of Students.
• Comply with Ministry of Education and ADEK regulations regarding policy eg Behaviour.
• Produce pastoral information and guidance to parents, staff and students.
• Chair Pastoral Leadership meetings as needed; formal behavioural / complaints etc.
• Lead and inspire the Well being committee, including setting up the annual well being calendar of events.
• Maintain the staff fund for gifts.
• Lead on all Pastoral Policies and ensure correct implementation.
• Lead Welcoming/onboarding Committee as a key part of the Induction process for new staff.
• Development of community events and opportunities.
• Liaise with HO on all matters pastoral, including all initiatives and projects.
• Lead and liaise with the school Counsellor including advising on their active role in the school for staff and students.

Development of Student Attributes, Participation and Responsibility:

• Plan, develop and lead/oversee programmes in the following areas:
• Buddying & Mentoring.
• Contribution towards local, national and international community.
• Healthy Lifestyles.
• Leadership experience.
• Role as a global citizen.
• UAE history, culture and heritage.
• Lead and empower all student groups except the Cultural Ambassadors and Eco Ambassadors.
• Develop student leadership in an innovative way in seizing opportunities in assemblies, events and community involvement.
• Develop Student leadership skill programme for all Student leadership roles – eg presentation skills, speaking and presentation, debate/ discussion/ mediators and interviews etc.
• Awareness days for whole school / groups.
• Lead on playtime activities, promoting and teaching games including required resources management.

Other Responsibilities

• Working with Principal to monitor and evaluate the quality of teaching and learning.
• Teaching within a class teacher role.
• Participation in and leadership of ECAS/school activities/ student led ECAs.
• Any other duties as directed by the principal.
• Oversee pastoral / well being surveys including PASS and all associated tracking and follow up to best benefit the children.

Requirements of Head Pastoral Care

The requirements for the job role of Head Pastoral Care are as under:

• A Bachelor Degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification A master is desirable.
• Minimum 2 year experience in similar role.
• Experience of working in an International School is desirable.
• Experience of teaching UK Curriculums.
• Middle leadership experience, Senior leadership experience is desirable.
• Experience of line/performance management.
• Experience of working in more than one International School.
• Experience leading/facilitating CPD and coaching programmes.
