About the Role

As Head of Physical Education at Yasmina British Academy, you will lead the strategic direction and development of the PE department across the secondary school. Furthermore, you will develop an outstanding teaching and learning culture while leading and managing staff, overseeing recruitment, performance appraisal, and professional development. Moreover, this senior leadership position involves analysing data, improvement planning, target setting, and ongoing self-evaluation to ensure outstanding achievement for all students. The role commences in January 2027.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead strategic direction and development of the PE department including vision setting and improvement planning
• Develop and maintain an outstanding teaching and learning culture ensuring high achievement for all students
• Lead and manage PE staff including recruitment, performance appraisal, and professional development
• Monitor and review student progress through data analysis, lesson observations, and student work reviews
• Ensure effective schemes of work are developed for all year groups including provision for SEN, G&T, and EAL students
• Organise key events and extra-curricular activities that promote student engagement in PE and sport
• Lead on marketing of the department to promote the school and increase student numbers
• Communicate effectively with parents through all channels including reports and parent-teacher consultations

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education or related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
• Minimum 6 years of experience leading the English National Curriculum in PE
• GCSE, A Level, and BTEC Sport Level 2 and 3 experience required
• Previous experience working with EAL students
• Proven track record of department leadership and staff management
• Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child
• Recent and consistent involvement in extra-curricular activities
