About the Role

As Head of Mathematics at Muna British Academy, you will lead the strategic direction and development of the Mathematics department. Furthermore, you will develop and implement policies that reflect the school’s vision and commitment to high standards while using data effectively to identify underachieving students and create action plans. Moreover, this senior leadership position involves evaluating teaching quality, managing department budgets, performance managing the team, and serving as an Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor to senior students.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement department policies reflecting the school’s vision and high standards of achievement
• Establish, monitor, and evaluate short, medium, and long-term department development plans
• Use data to identify underachieving students and create support action plans
• Ensure appropriate schemes of work for all year groups including SEN, G&T, and EAL provision
• Evaluate quality of teaching and learning and take action to improve standards
• Performance manage the Mathematics team in accordance with school policy
• Manage department resources and capital expenditure budgets efficiently
• Contribute to the school’s CAS Programme and after-school revision sessions

Requirements

• Bachelor of Education in Mathematics or equivalent degree with PGCE or teaching qualification
• Minimum 6 years of Mathematics teaching experience including 4 consecutive years exceeding standards
• Experience with British curriculum including IGCSE and A Level is essential
• Previous leadership experience is desirable
• Excellent communication skills and experience working with EAL students
• Passion for teaching and commitment to educating the whole child
• A clean enhanced DBS check or police clearance
