About the Role

Al Shohub British School is seeking a Head of EYFS for the Academic Year 2026-2027. This leadership position is based in Abu Dhabi at Khalifa City A, within a purpose-built educational facility. Furthermore, the successful candidate will lead the Early Years Foundation Stage department, ensuring outstanding curriculum delivery and student achievement. Additionally, this role requires a minimum of six years of teaching experience in the English National Curriculum and a genuine understanding of the values of the Emirati community.

Key Responsibilities

As Head of EYFS, you will assist the academy in achieving its overall vision and strategic intentions, contributing to targets set out in the improvement plan. Additionally, you will ensure appropriate schemes of work are developed, reviewed, and evaluated for all EYFS year groups with suitable provision for SEN, Gifted and Talented, and EAL students. Moreover, your duties include ensuring curriculum coverage, continuity, and progression for all students, and establishing clear policies for assessing, recording, and reporting on student achievement. Furthermore, you will comply with the academy’s Performance Management Policy, set challenging annual targets, and fulfil the role of performance management reviewer. In addition, you will engage in annual training linked to child protection, safeguarding, and health and safety.

Requirements and Qualifications

Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in a related subject along with a PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification. Additionally, a minimum of six years of experience teaching the English National Curriculum is required. Furthermore, previous experience working with students for whom English is not their first language is essential. Moreover, candidates should demonstrate a passion for teaching, commitment to educating the whole child, and a positive, solution-focused attitude. A clean enhanced DBS check or police check is also required.
