About the Role

As Head of English at Aldar Education, you will develop and implement policies and practices that reflect the school’s vision, aims, and commitment to high standards of achievement. Furthermore, you will establish, monitor, and evaluate development plans for the English department while using data effectively to identify underachieving students and create action plans. Moreover, this leadership position involves evaluating the quality of teaching and learning, managing department budgets, and serving as an Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor to Year 12 and 13 students.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and implement department policies reflecting the school’s vision and commitment to high standards
• Establish, monitor, and evaluate short, medium, and long-term department development plans
• Use data to identify underachieving students and create support action plans
• Ensure appropriate schemes of work are in place for all year groups including SEN, G&T, and EAL provision
• Evaluate quality of teaching and learning to identify effective practice and areas for improvement
• Hold regular department meetings focused on improving student achievement standards
• Maintain efficient control of department resource and capital expenditure budgets
• Serve as Academic Mentor and Extended Essay Supervisor to Year 12 and 13 students

Requirements

• BA in English Literature with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
• Minimum 6 years of teaching experience in the UK curriculum
• Proven track record of English department leadership
• Passionate and caring educator with commitment to enrichment
• Experience with IGCSE and IB DP English programmes
• Strong data analysis and strategic planning skills
• A clean enhanced DBS check or police clearance
