Responsibilities of Head of Design Technology

• Provide strategic direction and leadership for the Design Technology department, ensuring it aligns with the school’s overall vision and educational goals.
• Manage the department’s budget effectively, allocating resources for equipment, materials, and professional development.
• Recruit, hire, and mentor Design Technology teachers, supporting their professional development and ensuring high quality teaching standards.
• Oversee the curriculum development and implementation for Design Technology, ensuring it aligns with national standards and chosen frameworks (e.g., IB Diploma).
• Develop and monitor assessment strategies for Design Technology, evaluating student learning and progress.
• Lead departmental meetings and ensure effective communication with all stakeholders, including teachers, students, parents, and school administration.

Requirements of Head of Design Technology

The requirements for the job role of Head of Design Technology are as under:

•  Dynamic, enthusiastic, and well qualified holding as a minimum, a B.Ed. or a B.A & PGCE and QTS.
• Aspiring or current Middle Leaders are encouraged to apply for middle leadership roles. When applying please indicate your.

• Past MLT experience.
