Additionally, this leadership position lets you drive Arabic as a second language education at one of Abu Dhabi’s premier British curriculum schools on Saadiyat Island.

About the Role

As Head of Arabic B at Cranleigh Abu Dhabi, you will oversee a department with an excellent reputation that is continually developing and improving. Furthermore, you will contribute to the school’s strategic direction, develop and implement policies reflecting the school’s commitment to high standards, and establish short, medium, and long-term plans for departmental growth. The successful candidate will ensure comprehensive curriculum coverage for Arabic B across Year 5 to Year 13, promote UAE culture across the school, and lead initiatives to enhance Arabic language proficiency for non-native speakers.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the strategic direction and development of the Arabic B department
• Develop and implement policies reflecting the school’s commitment to high achievement standards
• Ensure appropriate schemes of work are developed and reviewed for Year 5 to Year 13 including SEN, G&T, and EAL provision
• Set clear expectations for staff regarding standards of achievement and teaching quality
• Undertake performance management of the Arabic team in accordance with school policies
• Lead the organisation of International Benchmark Assessments and departmental data analysis
• Promote UAE culture, National Identity, and Arabic language proficiency across the school
• Organise and participate in cultural events including Ramadan celebrations and Iftar

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in a related subject with PGCE or equivalent teaching qualification
• Master’s degree in Arabic Language or Education is preferred but not essential
• Minimum of 5 years teaching experience with some leadership experience desirable
• Profound understanding of the Arabic language and Emirati culture
• Dedication to advancing educational and cultural objectives within the school
• Strong data analysis skills to inform planning and targeted interventions
