MOE Subjects Head at NAS Abu Dhabi School is responsible to lead all aspects of the MOE subject provision across the whole school such that all students achieve better than expected academic, personal and social outcomes. Also responsible to maximize student outcomes in MOE Subjects across all phases.

Job Purpose

To lead all aspects of the MOE subject provision across the whole school such that all students achieve better than expected academic, personal and social outcomes. Responsibilities of MOE Subjects Head

Core Requirements 

  • Inspire trust and confidence in students, colleagues and parents and lead this area of NAS Abu Dhabi as a premium school in the UAE;
  • Strategically manage the long-term improvement plan for this area as directed by ADEK
  • Have an excellent grasp of the English language, be confidently fluent;
  • Contribute to the School Improvement Plan and promote the learning priorities of the school SIP;
  • Maximise student outcomes through effective use of the school systems for tracking, monitoring and intervention
  • Lead the department through a successful annual inspection by tracking, monitoring and presenting students’ progress
  • Performance Manage staff in the department and ensure the professional practice in line with the school’s aspirations and priorities;
  • Keep abreast of all national changes in MOE Subjects as directed by the government and implement as required;
  • Promote the wider aspirations and values of the school.
  • Work in collaboration with the English and the World Languages department to align learning in  Arabic

Strategic Direction and Development

  • To ensure there is a clear vision and appropriate milestones for MOE Subjects and regularly update the senior leadership team on the progress in MOE Department.
  • Appropriate mapping, planning and delivery of curriculums in accordance with Years of Study.
  • To ensure schemes of work are continually reviewed and improved.
  • Contribute to existing policies or develop policies and practice for MOE Subjects, reflecting the school’s commitment to effective learning and teaching.
  • Establish a clear and shared understanding of the importance and role of MOAE Subjects in their community.
  • Advise the school on local and national MOE Subject priorities and their incorporation into the school plan for redevelopment.
  • Establish with the involvement of relevant staff, plans for the development and resourcing of MOE Subject monitor.

Learning and Teaching

  • Have an excellent command of the Arabic language (Modern Standard Arabic).
  • Engage, motivate and stretch students and ensure all students are enjoying their learning journey in MOE Subjects.
  • Continually strive to develop the quality of students’ learning at all levels;
  • Have teaching skills which lead to learners achieving well relative to their prior attainment, making progress as good as, or better than, similar learners nationally.
  • Have an extensive knowledge and understanding of how to use and adapt a range of teaching, learning and behaviour management. strategies, including how to personalise learning to provide opportunities for all learners to achieve their potential.
  • Have a more developed knowledge and understanding of MOE Subjects and related pedagogy including how learning progresses.
  • To ensure that school policies and appropriate curriculums are implemented throughout MOE Subjects.
  • To ensure that a high standard of physical and emotional care of all children is maintained.
  • To develop and maintain highly effective inclusion procedures which promote high standards of behaviour and good levels of attendance.
  • To ensure pupils and staff within MOE Subject department are supported to create a positive school ethos.
  • To assist in the promotion of understanding and active co operation between staff and parents on all school matters.
  • To provide support and advice for parents to create effective partnerships for the learning of MOE Subjects.
  • To liaise with outside agencies when appropriate and necessary.

Leading and Managing Staff

  • Facilitate staff in making constructive working relationships with children, their parents/careers and outside agencies.
  • Establish clear expectations for staff involved in MOE Subjects, through team working and mutual support, devolving responsibilities and delegating tasks as appropriate, evaluating practice and developing a culture of accountability.
  • Embedding clear professional development opportunities for staff, allowing for personal development and accountability over extended periods of time.
  • Ensure high quality training, monitoring and support is provided during the induction of new staff.
  • Lead by example, provide inspiration and motivation.
  • Carry out Performance Management reviews with MOE Subject staff.
  • Be committed to professional development, taking into consideration the needs of the school and the individual.
  • Work on all staffing and timetabling issues with solutions.

Other Responsibilities of MOE Subjects Head

  • Contribute positively to the morale and community spirit in the school.
  • Work effectively in different teams.
  • Assist in whole school marketing initiatives and contribute to the growth of the school.
  • Operate at all times within the stated policies and practices of the school.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of good practice in teaching techniques.
  • Maintain subject(s) or specialism(s) to enable effective teaching.
  • Keep knowledge of wider curriculum developments up to date.
  • Undertake professional development to enhance teaching and students’ learning, and apply outcomes and identify impact/share outcomes with colleagues.

Job Requirements of MOE Subjects Head

  • Degree in Arabic Literature or equivalent.
  • Minimum of two years experience teaching.
  • Experience of working and leading within a large Arabic department
  • Experience in teaching both Arabs and Non Arabs.
  • Have a wealth of experience as an existing Head of Arabic B within the UAE, having led on successful ADEK inspections.
