Purpose of A GSI Engineering Leader

• The GSI Engineering Leader has full global responsibility for engineering execution excellence.
• They define standard work methods and procedures driving to on time delivery, margin improvement and cash, working through safety by design, quality / completeness and proper execution rigor across the organisation.
• They are responsible to develop the engineering competencies and culture within the GSI organisation.

Job Duties As A GSI Engineering Leader At General Electric (GE) Dubai (UAE)

Engineering Strategy

• Improve the project engineering function at Inquiry to Order (ITO) phase and make it accountable for engineering budget and technical solution proposed, as well as the engagement of Order to Remittance (OTR) team for a smooth transition to OTR.
• Define the ‘Make or Buy’ strategy for engineering activities globally and apply within the regions.
• Establish relationships with all stake holders to ensure that customer needs are being met.
• Launch key initiatives to address performance issues, improvement ideas, improve core competencies & other areas of focus.

Management of Engineering Offices

• Manage GSI Center of Excellence (CoE) to ensure capabilities & capacity is developed to support the wider GSI community.
• Defining operational KPI’s to continue CoE profitable growth.
• In partner ship with the CoE Leader, create development and growth opportunities across Business Lines.
• Lead Project Engineering Office (PEO) to manage & regularly update Engineering Management Handbook (EMH), Engineering process, training & tools.
• Set operational targets, operating rhythms to ensure consistency in engineering approach and delivery across GSI regions.

Engineering Process & Tools

• Responsible for development and deployment of engineering tools and to drive engineering quality process and metrics.
• Deploy GRID engineering tools & process.
• Secure with support of IT function the adequacy between engineering tools and IT infrastructure.

Product Management

• Lead development and cost reduction of GSI reference / base line solutions & project delivery to reduce tendering & execution risks.
• Interact with customers to understand current & future business & product needs & turn customer feed back into market trends.
• Communicate core business vision & strategy to grow & manage product port folio and ensure competitive position & product vitality.
• Develop key supply chain relationships.

Who Can Apply?

Qualification

• Minimum Bachelor’s degree in engineering from a university.

Experience

• 15 plus years of engineering or project management activities in EPC type environment in T&D, power gen or oil & gas industry.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

• Experience in management of engineering, technology or project management teams.
• Knowledge of project execution risks and financial process.
• Ability to lead and deliver results.
• Inspires team, creates a vision and has passion for the role.
• Mastering of some engineering process such as civil work, plant configuration, control & protection hard ware, system & performance studies or electrical design.
