Job Description
NMC Healthcare is seeking a qualified GP Dentist Implantologist to join them at Bareen International Hospital in Abu Dhabi. The General Dentist provides direct outpatient care in all areas of general dentistry in consultation with dental specialist, physicians and other health professionals as required for the best interest of the patient.
Responsibilities of GP Dentist Implantologist
- Examines clinically and radiographically the hard and soft tissues of the oral cavity and head and neck region.
- Identifies and records developmental abnormalities, caries, fractures, root exposures, erosions, abrasions, and defective restorations of existing teeth.
- Records condition and existing pathology of the periodontium, and other soft tissues of the mouth, temporo – mandibular joint, muscles of mastication, occlusal relationship, and other areas of the head and neck region.
- Orders, exposes, and interprets intra and extra oral radiographs of the teeth, alveolar ridges, temporo-mandibular joint, and other hard tissues of the cranial facial complex.
- Uses radiography techniques and safeguards which will assure maximum diagnostic results and patient protection against radiation hazards.
- Diagnoses existing pathology of the above mentioned areas utilizing other aids such as study casts, electric vitalometers, transillumunators, thermal aids, percussion and palpation.
- Interviews patients and records medical history.
- Orders appropriate medical laboratory tests to assist in the diagnosis of systemic diseases which may affect the course of dental treatment.
- Takes and records patients’ vital signs, (including pulse rate and blood pressure). Refers patients for appropriate medical evaluation when indicated.
- Plans a course of treatment based on the findings of the clinical and radiographic examination and the patient’s needs.
- Ascertains patient’s interest in dental health care, treatment expectations, as well as availability, and when applicable.
- Explains all aspects of dental disease, planned treatment, and costs to assure complete understanding on the part of the patient.
What you’ll do as GP Dentist Implantologist
- Perform preventive procedures on adults and children.
- Prescribe and administer pre-medications to patients as indicated and utilize local anesthetics for control of pain.
- Recognize adverse reactions to these agents and take immediate necessary measures to counteract such reactions.
- Treat and restore decayed and fractured teeth of adults and children under adequate isolation.
- Remove decay, shape cavities to receive the restorative materials of choice (gold, silver, amalgam, resin, porcelain).
- Place appropriate medications and bases to treat or protect the remaining tooth structure.
- Place, carve, finish and polish the restorations to restore function and appearance.
- Prepare teeth and soft tissues for the placement of fixed or removable prostheses (bridges, partial dentures, full dentures) to replace missing teeth or to regain stability through splinting when indicated.
- Make accurate impressions and precise inter-occlusal records for the fabrication of dental prosthetic appliances.
- Remove diseased or fractured teeth which are beyond repair.
- Perform other oral surgical procedures. Recognize and treat or refer for treatment, diseases of the pulp and periodontal structures.
- Provide emergency after hours dental services to hospital in-patient and emergency room referrals.
- Recognize orthodontic problems of patients. Design, fit, and adjust removable appliances for minor tooth movement or for space maintenance.
- Recognize and treat or refer for treatment, oral pathology, malignant and benign.
- Recognize oral manifestations of systemic disease.
Qualification & Experience
A GP Dentist Implantologist at Bareen International Hospital, must possess the following:
- D.D.S. or D.M.D. from an approved Dental School (American Dental Association approval or equivalent).
- Three years in the practice of general dentistry.
- One (1) year of internship or family practice residency highly desirable.
- Candidates with experience in Institutional Dentistry or group practice and those with higher qualifications granted by Accredited Dental Colleges or Universities are desirable.
Knowledge & Skills
- Excellent command of oral and written English. Knowledge of Arabic language is desirable but not essential.
- Must have a thorough knowledge of medical ethics.
- Possess basic knowledge of general medicine.
- Current licensure in country of origin and with HAAD (Health Authority Abu Dhabi) license to practice general dentistry in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
- Communication, interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with co-workers, superiors, patients & families.
