Job Description

Aldar Education is currently seeking an outstanding Finance Manager Bahrain to lead the Finance department for a new Aldar Education school based in Bahrain. The Manager Finance (Bahrain) is responsible for all areas relating to school finance operations such as budgeting, forecasting, monthly closing, MIS reporting to Principals, budget control, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivables, Fixed Asset management, Cash and Bank Management, Re enrolment process (finance related actions) and timely closing of internal and external audit requirements. The Manager Finance is also responsible for implementation of new applicable IFRS standards, enhance finance operating policies time to time, ensure compliance with DOA, develop training plans for school finance team to improve efficiency of school finance operations and Business Partnering

Responsibilities of Finance Manager

Main Duties

  • Lead school finance department such as annual school budget, re forecast, AP, AR, Treasury, Fixed Asset, GL & Reporting.
  • Support implementation of an ERP solution, (short term may be an off the shelf accounting package).
  • Monthly closing for the school as per group timelines.
  • Point of contact for all customer Finance / Administrative queries.
  • Support Group Financial Reporting team to close External & Internal Audit points for entities.
  • Work closely with Operated Schools Finance team for finance projects for department excellence.

Specific Duties

  • Finance business partnering with School Principal and wider School Leadership Team.
  • Lead day to day relationship with Customer Team and any other key stakeholders.
  • Closely work with Senior Finance Manager Operated Schools to streamline school finance processes.
  • Support FP&A team for school budgeting, forecasting and strategic plan with the actual and key assumptions.
  • Support Operated Schools Cluster Finance & Group Financial Reporting teams to close Audits & Financial Statements.
  • Point of contact for school’s Internal Audit requirements, provide explanations on audit queries and resolve the follow up requirements as per audit plan.
  • Focus to reduce high risk audit observation by. implementing strong internal controls as per approved DOA and policies
  • Review finance policies and SOPs periodically and propose changes based on the change in business requirements and growth.
  • Provide necessary training to schools finance team for policies, corporate governance, DOA, SOPs and key timelines.
  • Review monthly school MIS report .
  • Review Budget Vs Actual, ensure budget controls are in place and budget movements/increases are in compliance with DOA.
  • Review payments and ensure the payments are processed in accordance with the DOA.
  • Check supplier reconciliation statement, spend category and approval as per DOA before payment approval.
  • Support finance team for various surveys from Regulatory and Government authorities.
  • Review monthly Fixed Asset creation and ensure the asset creation is as per policy and as per accounting standards.
  • Review annual registration and re registration processes and confirm with changes to improve the process.

Job Requirements of Finance Manager

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA or equivalent preferred).
  • Professional Accounting qualification.
  • 10+ Years’ experience out of which minimum 5 years’ experience in managing finance & business operations.
  • Education or other multi site B2C experience.
  • Experience of change management and fast growth / fast paced dynamic environment.

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • Well versed with IFRS standards.
  • Process oriented and ability to execute finance projects.
  • Fluent English communication skills, written and oral.
  • Attention to detail with diligent follow up, and able to execute in a timely manner.
  • Skilled in multi tasking and handling pressure.
