Faculty Early Childhood Education Higher Colleges of Technology

Faculty Early Childhood Education at Higher Colleges of Technology are responsible to provide effective instruction in the HCT’s Bachelor of Education program, specifically in the areas of Early Childhood Education, English Language Teaching in Schools, Primary Education, and Mathematics and Science Education at Primary and Secondary levels. Curriculum is taught to second language learners within a student centric learning environment that fosters respect for students, their culture, and their traditions. Faculty play an important role in assisting with the development and preservation of system wide and directorate specific policies, and are viewed as active participants in academic and extra curricular events at the College and within the community.

Duties of Faculty Early Childhood Education

• Must Have Early Childhood Education Experience or certifications “preferred in montessori”.
• Using a practical, applied approach, teach courses that are in line with course and program goals to meet the needs and aspirations of the students and the community.
• Develop and utilize various educational technology resources to ensure that effective and innovative instruction methodologies are employed.
• Apply innovative strategies to ensure effective student learning achieved within a second language environment.
• Providing continuous feedback on student progress through a variety of existing assessment tools.
• Take a student centered approach, providing students with individual assistance.
• Dealing promptly with student issues by liaising directly with the student, program supervisor and other College personnel as required.
•  Support and mentor students during internships and work placements
•  Serve as student advisor as assigned.
•  Monitor student progress and take actions to support student success.
• Develop course curriculum under the guidance of the line management as per accreditation and international standards and maintain the relevance of the materials.
•  Provide input to program and course reviews and make recommendations based on consultations with students, colleagues and external agencies.
• Ensure curriculum revised appropriate from Faculty wide assessment information or with industry advice.
•  Develop an awareness of and respect for the customs and cultures of HCT students and employees.

Job Requirements

The requirements for the job role of Faculty Early Childhood Education are as under:

• PhD in the discipline required.
• Bachelor and Master’s qualifications should be in the discipline.
• Master’s Degree holders with significant teaching experience considered the Master’s Degree in relevant discipline with the major clearly defined.
• At least 3 years of practical teaching experience in a relevant educational setting (i.e. Early Childhood Education, Primary, Primary Mathematics, Primary Science, Primary English, Secondary Maths, Science or English or ELTS)
• At least 3 years of experience within a teacher education department at a tertiary level, or equivalent.
  Demonstrated expertise in curriculum and instructional strategies incorporating Educational Technology
•  A professional teaching qualification inclusive of teaching methodology and supervised practical teaching (e.g. B.Ed., PGCE, M.Teach, etc.).
•  A TESOL qualification is desirable.
•  Appropriate academic professional qualifications as required.
