Job Description
Star International School, Al Qusais is looking to recruit a strong, resilient and innovative English Teacher to join their team in August 2024. The selected candidate is responsible to cultivate lifelong learners by fostering language skills, critical thinking, and a love for literature within an inclusive learning environment.
Responsibilities of English Teacher
- To be accountable for ensuring that children are inspired, motivated and equipped to make as much progress with their learning as possible through ‘real learning.’
- To work collaboratively, coaching, supporting and training colleagues and families.
- To have a positive impact on the work of the school.
- To ensure children are safe and well cared for at all times.
- To plan and deliver creative and engaging lessons, ensuring that children are actively learning throughout each lesson and that every child makes as much progress as possible.
- To ensure effective communication and direct the work of others, as appropriate.
- To lead CAS activities, participating and leading staff training and contributing to the establishment and development of the school community.
- To comply with their agreed policies and procedures.
- To actively engage with their school community e.g. through newsletters, informal dialogue, reporting, supporting school functions and contributing to community and marketing activities to make Star International School the school of choice for their community.
- To actively participate in the performance management process of self and others.
- To be involved in improving learning across the school as a subject leader.
- In addition, all staff are required to carry out any tasks required by the school or the regional office to facilitate the smooth day to day running of the school.
Job Requirements of English Teacher
- Qualified teacher status.
- Full time teaching experience of at least 2 years in A levels English literature.
Skills & Knowledge Desired
- Evidence of professional development relevant to this role.
- Good knowledge of legislation and guidance on curriculum requirements.
- Outstanding classroom practice, constantly showing a positive and resilient approach to pupils and staff.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Knowledge of effective teaching and learning strategies.
- A good understanding of how children learn.
- Ability to adapt teaching to meet pupils’ needs.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with pupils.
- Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children.
- Knowledge of effective behaviour management strategies.
- Good IT skills, including previous use of iSAMS.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to communicate a vision and inspire others.
- Ability to build effective working relationships with staff and other stakeholders.
- To be able to teach in an enjoyable, creative, and inclusive way, promoting. independence, so that every child makes as much progress as possible.
- To be able to develop positive working relationships with all members of the school community.
- To be able to use initiative, be flexible, fun, proactive and positive.
Hours of Work
- Hours of work 7.25am to 4.15pm Monday to Thursday; 7:25am to 12:00 noon on Fridays, plus occasional evening and weekend work.
- Holidays as per the school KHDA approved calendar.
