The Arbor School is looking for an experienced Teacher of English to join its growing secondary English department starting in August 2026. This full time role is based in Dubai and is open to qualified educators who hold a bachelor degree in English or a related subject plus a PGCE with QTS or equivalent. If you are a passionate lover of literature who enjoys diversifying the curriculum to include texts and authors that reflect ecological and sustainability values, this position offers a unique and rewarding environment. You will teach English Language and English Literature across KS3, KS4, and KS5, including GCSE, iGCSE, A Level, or IB.
Key Responsibilities for English Teacher, Secondary School
- Teach English Literature and English Language to students across Key Stages 3, 4, and 5. Prepare students for GCSE, iGCSE, A Level, or IB examinations with a track record of outstanding results.
- Plan and deliver engaging lessons that challenge students of all abilities. Create a caring and nurturing classroom environment where every learner feels supported to achieve their potential.
- Work closely with the English department to develop the curriculum, moderate assessment pieces, and embed a curriculum map across the secondary school. Diversify the curriculum to include texts and authors that align with the school’s unique ecological ethos and the multinational community it serves.
- Assess student progress regularly and provide constructive feedback. Use data to inform teaching and ensure continuous improvement.
- Bring your passions and interests to enrich the school community. Participate fully in the wider life of the school, including events and extracurricular activities.
- Communicate proactively with parents and colleagues, assuming positive intent. Finally, meet agreed deadlines and contribute to a resilient, creative, and collaborative team culture.
Qualifications
You need native level English language skills. A bachelor degree in English or a similar subject is essential, plus a PGCE in Education with QTS or an equivalent teaching qualification. A minimum of three years of experience teaching English in the UK or a reputable British school overseas is required. You must have a track record of outstanding GCSE and or A Level examination results. The school looks for candidates who can create a caring, nurturing classroom environment and who are team players willing to collaborate on curriculum development.
