Job Purpose of Engineering Manager

Lead and mentor a team of engineers in the delivery of innovative and high quality end to end software/engineering solutions.

Job Duties of Engineering Manager

• Understand customer/business needs & problems and create a strategy to drive desired outcomes.
• Lead a talented group of engineers to innovate, implement & deploy end to end complex software solutions.
• Develop & grow engineering talent through effective mentoring, coaching and retention strategies in a hyper growing, highly competitive economic environment.
• Guide the team in creation of software as a solution to end to end problem in business domain and deliver value in small batches, taking into account non functional requirements such as availability, scalability, latency and efficiency of talabat’s services in line with internal engineering standards.
• Guide the team’s discovery, planning and execution to successfully deliver value to customers in small batches.

Qualification & Experience

• Engineering degree i.e. software.
• 6 plus years of experience in software engineering, preferably within extreme programming environment (TDD, Pair programming, simple design & continuous refactoring).
• 2 plus years of hands on technical leadership and people management experience.
• Experience in distributed systems architecture (microservices, event driven & Restful services).
• Experience building, maintaining and improving with trunk based development and continuous delivery.
• Experience in designing, implementing, monitoring and scaling of web apps and APIs.
• Strong familiarity with the general mobile landscape, architectures & trends/emerging tech.
• Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
