Job Purpose of An Equipment Engineering and Maintenance Director

• To manage, plan and control all aspects of equipment maintenance in Port Cluster.
• To ensure the provision of equipment that is safe to use, and that meets all local and international standards regarding its functions and to the operations and other departments at the port.

Duties of An Equipment Engineering and Maintenance Director

• Manage the records, drawings, documentation, manuals, specifications, licenses, inspections, warrantees, external service agreements and internal service level agreements for the organization’s equipment and tools.
• Manage the technical specification for new equipment’s and advices operations with functional requirements like and not limited to, equipment type selection, size, heights, speeds, lifting capacity.
• Minimizes the organizational costs through an optimized product standardization and maintenance cost tracking.
• Document and tracks equipment performance throughout the equipment lifetime.
• Provides input to strategic decisions that effects the functional area of responsibility.
• Give input to the developing of the budget for new purchases and maintenance and responsible for the final budget Engineering and Maintenance.
• Shall be capable of resolving escalated issues arising from operations and requiring coordination with other departments.
• Relies on extensive experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals.
• Performs a variety of tasks.
• Leads and directs the work of others.
• Set employee goals and objectives.
• Take the Decision of hiring, discipline and promotion of subordinates.
• Ensure good communicating, motivating and developing environment among the team to maximize potential.
• Recognize and reinforce strong performance in the employees and identify and encourage improvement where needed.
• Responsible to delegate a department workload effectively and monitor its progress towards completion.
• Comprehend directives from upper management and to then translate them to staff.
• Apply strategic planning to determine department’s objectives.
• Evaluate current business processes and systems and create new business opportunities.
• Formulates plan and implement policies, procedures and systems to maximize operating efficiency.
• Determine staffing requirements.

Who Can Apply?

Qualification

• Bachelor’s degree or HD in Engineering.

Experience

• 5-8 years of previous proven experience.
