Duties Of Inspection Engineer

  • Implement the company’s corrosion control policies and standards related to chemical Inhibition, Internal Corrosion Monitoring, Materials Selection/Specification, Failure Analysis, Coating Specification, Inspection & Evaluation, Data Gathering and Processing and other Miscellaneous Corrosion Inspections.
  • Perform periodic reviews to upgrade general corrosion control and inspection standards, procedures, and systems and update the company’s Corrosion and Inspection Management System
  • Review the integrity and inspection assessment reports and advise on the repair techniques, materials’ selection, welding procedures, and inspection and testing requirements.
  • Prepare the inspection activity scope of work, method statements, job plans and relevant inspection test plan (ITP), and procedures.
  • Investigate failures to identify causes and assess equipment fitness for purpose. Formulate recommendations to prevent recurrences, highlights areas of concern and advises where improvements of protective systems/mitigation measures are needed.
  • Define and prepare detailed specifications and scopes of work for contracted activities.
  • Evaluate contractors’ pre-qualification, vet tenders and contract documents and provides technical comments for contract awarding.
  • Perform audit inspection and corrosion mitigation activities on all company’s facilities.
  • Ensure alignment with ADD directives and other initiatives relevant to integrity, corrosion & inspection, accident investigations, Emergency Control Centre, etc.
  • Identify and track corrosion rates and damage; corrosion mitigation plans, including cathodic protection, chemical treatment, and other methods, to minimize the impact of corrosion on equipment and infrastructure and to prevent further corrosion and maintain equipment integrity.
  • Conduct regular inspections of equipment and facilities to identify and assess the extent of corrosion damage.
  • Interpret and analyse corrosion-related data to make recommendations for corrective actions and provide recommendations to prevent or mitigate corrosion-related issues.
  • Ensure that all corrosion-related activities are conducted in compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.
  • Implement corrosion inspection procedures and techniques to ensure accurate and reliable corrosion data.

Requirements For Inspection Engineer

The eligibility requirements for the role of Inspection Engineer are as under:

  • Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Chemical Engineering or equivalent.
  • At least 8 years experience in cathodic protection (CP) monitoring, upgrading, and inspection activities within a large industrial Plant, preferably in the Oil and Gas industry.

Desired Skills & Knowledge

  • Strong working background in cathodic protection activities’ testing, commissioning, start-up, and investigative assessments.
  • Good understanding of engineering principles for cathodic protection systems and designs.
  • Knowledge in the relevant calculations, technical notes, specifications, and deliverables.
  • Awareness in troubleshooting and corrective action recommendations for cathodic protection systems.
  • Working background in technical report writing.
