Echo Cardiographer I Dubai Academic Health Corporation

An Echo Cardiographer at Dubai Health will prepare patients for examination by reviewing the physician’s orders for the procedure. They will be reviewing patient history, obtaining height and weight and attaching ECG electrodes to the patient. The incumbent will position the patient appropriately for the test and obtain high-quality images by manipulating the transducer, monitoring the display screen and adjusting the beam strength and focus.

Duties as Echo Cardiographer

• Record the images that were obtained, calculating measurements of heart wall, cavity dimensions, blood flow direction and velocities. Compare these measurements to normal values for height, weight and gender.
• Prepare a preliminary report that highlights the finding of examination and forwards this report to the responsible physician for verification/editing.
• Recognizing image artifacts that can mimic abnormalities.
• Recognizing critical abnormalities that require urgent intervention and report then immediately to the physician assigned to echo.
• Use their knowledge and judgment to establish If the images obtained are optimal or there is a need for use of echo-contrast agents or agitated Saline injection.
• Adherence to patient safety policies and guidelines
• Prepare patients for trans esophageal echocardiogram and dobutamine echocardiogram by taking patient history and vital signs, positioning the patient and explaining the procedure.
• Organize with the nursing department to provide a nurse to be present to insert IV lines of administering medication in needed procedures (such as trans esophageal echocardiogram and dobutamine echocardiogram and for injection of Echo contrast agents)
• Maintain confidentiality of medical record and exam results.
• Maintain accurate patient documentation, including computerized documentation.
• Perform general office duties: maintains stock supplies, assists administrators in determining quantities for purchase, and scheduling patients.
• Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.
• Promote continuous improvement of workplace safety and environmental practices.
• Troubleshoot equipment and document errors or equipment malfunctions.
• Escalate issues and concerns to engineer, supervisor, and/or cardiologist.

Qualifications & Experience

Following are the requirements for the role of Echo Cardiographer I at Dubai Academic Health Corporation:

• Bachelor Degree in related field + 3 years experience.

OR

• Bachelor Degree in Science + 2 years Diploma in related field + 5 years experience.
