Director Human Resource Department at University of Sharjah is responsible to provide strategic and operational direction in developing human resources policy and procedures by leading and managing a variety of issues and concerns of manpower planning, performance management, learning and development, recruitment, employee relations, as well as compensation and benefits.

Duties of Director Human Resource Department

  • Partner with top management to grow the business through innovative human resources management. As well as create human resources policy and procedures in alignment with the university regulations and requirements of the UAE government in order to achieve UOS’s vision and mission.
  • Manage the annual manpower planning by creating a strategic intake plan for both academic and non academic positions. As well as support Emiratization initiatives in order to attract potential talents of Emiratis, such as career development plans, training opportunities, etc.
  • Provide consultation to top management on strategic staffing plans, compensation and benefits, learning and development and employee relations. As well as supervise the development of UOS’s organizational charts.
  • Provide leadership to the HR team in order to build and develop their organizational capabilities, provide them with development opportunities such as training, coaching, etc., as well as report on their performance.
  • Manage the hiring process for the department including preparing request to recruit forms, selection and interview process in order to ensure the best and most suitable candidates are selected.
  • Analyze the compensation and benefits practices and compare it to similar practices in the labor market in the same position as well as the same sector.
  • Recommend ERP systems and/or other systems that can help enhance the outcomes and effectiveness of the human resources operations.

What Will You Do More

  • Facilitate communication between the Human Resources Department and other departments to ensure that any correlated and linked job tasks are completed smoothly and in a timely fashion.
  • Manage the department’s budget, track expenditures, and ensure that adequate provision is made for all activities and are within the limits of the budget.
  • Collaborate regularly with HR consultation and recruitment companies in order to create and maintain a competitive and attractive compensation system and attract professionals and specialists.
  • Lead the development of the HR department’s KPIs and be the point of contact between the department and the Office of Strategic Planning in order to report on the department’s progress and prepare the necessary action plans. As well as ensure that each team member has a good understanding of the department’s KPIs and how their roles can impact their achievement.​
  • Lead, manage and continually improve the change management process in the present and future by applying strategies and methods that can applied to engage change effectively.
  • Provide various reports, strategic plans, analysis and statistics related to the Human Resources Department when requested by top management.
  • Complete any other job related tasks as assigned by the line manager within the expected time limit.

Job Requirements of Director Human Resource Department

  • Minimum of bachelor’s degree in Human Resources or a relevant discipline.
  • Master’s degree in a related field, or related advanced professional certification (e.g. CIPD, SHRM, etc.) is a plus.
  • More than 15 Years of UAE experience in a leadership position in different human resources responsibilities preferably in higher education institutions.
  • Priority to UAE Nationals.​

Skills & Knowledge Desired

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and the ability to prepare professional documents, in both Arabic and English.
  • Excellent working knowledge of personal computer applications with an emphasis on MS Office applications such as Excel, Word, and Teams.
  • Knowledge of ERP Systems related to HR operations would be an advantage.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of personalities and behavioural styles.​
