Dubai Ports (DP) World is actively hiring highly qualified and experienced candidate for job role of an Development Director. This selected candidate will strategically manage the procurement of Ocean freight services from global providers and develop pricing strategies that optimize costs, ensure efficient supply chain operations, maintain supplier relationships, mitigate risks, and comply with regulations.

Responsibilities of Development Director

Global Procurement Strategy

• Develop and execute a comprehensive global procurement strategy for Ocean freight services.
• Identify and establish relationships with strategic suppliers and negotiable favourable terms and agreements.
• Monitor market trends and fluctuations in pricing to make informed procurement decisions.

Pricing Strategy

• Analyze market conditions, competition, and cost structures to develop effective pricing strategies.
• Collaborate with sales and operations teams to ensure pricing aligns with customer needs and company objectives.
• Optimize pricing models to maximise revenue and profitability.

Contract Management

• Oversee the negotiation, creation, and management of contracts with carriers and suppliers.
• Ensure contractual terms and conditions compliance, including service level agreements and pricing structures.
• Review and amend contracts as necessary to adapt to changing business needs.

Cost Control

• Implement cost control measures to manage and reduce operational expenses while maintaining service quality.
• Identify cost-saving opportunities through process optimisation and efficiency improvements.

Team Leadership

• Lead the global procurement and pricing strategy transversely and animate the regional teams.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to regions, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and excellence.

Data Analysis and Reporting

• Utilize data analytics tools to generate insights and reports on procurement and pricing performance.
• Present data-driven recommendations to the executive team for informed decision-making.
• Responsible for the transversal management and leadership of an engaged team, promoting collaboration and ensuring that each is developed and evaluated against goals and objectives aligned, specific, measurable, attainable yet challenging, realistic and time bound.

Requirements for Role of Development Director 

The eligibility requirements for role of Global Director Ocean Freight Product Development are as under:

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; a Master’s degree is a plus.
• 7-8 years of proven experience in global procurement and pricing within the freight forwarding industry, specifically Ocean logistics.
