Job Title
Deputy Store Manager
Responsibilities
- Help the store manager run the day-to-day operations smoothly.
- Keep track of staff performance and offer guidance when needed.
- Work alongside the team to meet monthly sales goals.
- Make sure the shop floor stays organized and visually appealing.
- Deal with customer concerns or complaints in a calm, helpful way.
- Manage product displays and make adjustments for seasonal changes.
- Monitor stock levels and coordinate with the warehouse for restocking.
- Support staff hiring and training when required.
- Ensure all company policies and safety rules are being followed.
- Keep tabs on store expenses and suggest ways to stay efficient.
- Share regular updates with management about store performance.
- Step in for the manager when needed and take charge during shifts.
- Keep staff motivated and focused on service standards.
- Help plan promotions and special events to boost foot traffic.
- Be hands-on when needed – from stocking shelves to helping on the tills.
Requirements and Qualifications
Education
A diploma or degree in retail management, business, or similar.
Experience
At least 2 years in a retail environment, preferably in a leadership or supervisory role
Skills
- Good communicator who can connect with both personnel and consumers
- Able to lead by example and keep a team motivated
- Comfortable handling stock, displays, and point-of-sale systems
- Calm under pressure and fast to address difficulties
- Organized, with an eye for detail and presentation
- Strong focus on customer service and store standards
- Knowledge
- Understanding of how retail stores work, day to day
- Familiarity with inventory management and merchandising
- Knows how to read basic sales data and adjust strategy
- Experience with store promotions and seasonal planning
