About the Role

The Dean of Students at Emirates National Schools in Dubai serves as a key member of the academic support team, reporting directly to the Head or Principal of the campus. Furthermore, this role is responsible for overseeing student attendance, discipline, conduct, and overall welfare across the school. The Dean of Students acts as a vital link between students, parents, teachers, and senior leadership, ensuring a safe and well-managed learning environment. Moreover, this leadership role requires strong communication skills in both English and Arabic.

Key Responsibilities

• Monitor all students’ lateness and absences before the end of the first period and report to the Head/Principal, coordinating follow-up communications with parents.
• Ensure that reception and administrative staff contact parents of absent or late students and record all replies in PowerSchool.
• Assure students attend all classes and authorize hall passes for student movement during class time.
• Enter student breaches of the code of conduct into PowerSchool on the day incidents occur.
• Manage the school detention room and report assigned students to the Head/Principal with documented reasons.
• Conduct a daily meeting with the Head/Principal to discuss disciplinary issues and actions taken.
• Supervise dismissal practices including student exit from classrooms, bus line-ups, and campus safety.
• Monitor teacher punctuality for duties and scheduled classes and report tardiness to the Head/Principal.
• Support teachers in implementing pastoral and academic interventions and guide them through the PowerSchool reporting process.
• Conduct weekly school walkabouts to assess building maintenance needs, safety concerns, and operational status of equipment.

Requirements

• Qualified and experienced teacher with a proven classroom track record.
• Minimum of three years of licensed teaching experience and/or one year in a school leadership role.
• Strong written and oral communication skills in both English and Arabic.
• Proficient in PowerSchool or equivalent student information management systems.
• Demonstrated ability to manage conflict, facilitate groups, and apply data-driven problem-solving.
• Collaborative mindset with the ability to build teamwork culture among staff.
