Purpose of the Role

Key Responsibilities

As chief academic and administrative officer of the College of Health Sciences, the Dean will oversee all academic programs, faculty recruitment, curriculum development, and budget management. In addition, the Dean will champion accreditation initiatives and ensure full compliance with national and international standards. Moreover, the Dean is expected to cultivate a research-active environment by supporting faculty scholarship, securing external funding, and establishing collaborative research agreements with leading healthcare institutions throughout the UAE and beyond.

Strategic Partnerships and External Engagement

A central responsibility of this role is developing and maintaining strategic partnerships with hospitals, clinics, government health agencies, and international academic institutions. Therefore, the ideal candidate must possess a strong professional network within the healthcare and academic communities. Since AUE is committed to producing practice-ready health science graduates, the Dean must also lead efforts in clinical placement, community outreach, and internship program development to ensure students gain meaningful real-world exposure.

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

Candidates must hold a terminal degree (Ph.D., MD, or equivalent) from an internationally accredited institution in a health science discipline. Additionally, a minimum of ten years of progressive academic and administrative experience is required, including proven leadership at the department or college level. A strong record of research publications, successful grant acquisition, and experience with professional accreditation processes are also essential.
