Data Specialist Etihad Rail Abu Dhabi

Data Specialist provides professional data science to capitalize on the information that is confined in vast amounts of data and supports the company to make empirical data driven decisions. Primary focus is on application of internal data mining and machine learning techniques, data quality improvement and automated errors detection systems, statistical analysis, development of internal A/B testing procedures, development of the business intelligence tool, high quality prediction systems that are integrated with Enterprise Asset Management System.

Responsibilities OF Data Specialist

• Selecting features, building and optimizing classifiers using machine learning techniques.
• Data mining using state-of-the-art methods.
• Creating prediction systems for performance improvements.
• Extending company’s data by integrating information from third party sources when needed.
• Enhancing data collection procedures to include information that is relevant for building analytic systems.
• Processing, cleansing and verifying the integrity of data used for analysis.
• Doing ad-hoc analysis and presenting results in a clear manner.
• Creating automated anomaly detection systems and constant tracking of its performance.
• Creating A/B testing procedures for performance enhancements.
• Performs a variety of administrative and data entry tasks in support of maintenance teams.
• Works under the instruction of the Head of Fleet Reliability & Standards Manager.
• Being aware of the current policies and procedures and their responsibilities for protecting corporate assets.
• Using corporate resources only for intended purposes as defined by policies and procedures of Etihad Rail.
• Being accountable for their actions relating to their use of all assets.

Safety Responsibilities

• To comply with those elements of the company’s environment, health and safety management system and other company documents where specific responsibility is identified with the role or as a general requirement on all employees.

Requirements of Data Specialist

• Diploma in Information Science or equivalent.
• Experience with common data science toolkit.
• Experience with business intelligence and data visualization tools, such as Tableu or similar.
• Experience with NoSQL databases.
• 5 years in relevant industry experience.

Skills and Abilities Desired

• Excellent understanding of machine learning techniques and algorithms.
• Proficiency in using query languages such as SQL.
• Good applied statistics skills, such as distributions, statistical testing, regression, etc.
• Good scripting and programming skills.
• Great communication skills.
• English as first language or advanced level of written and verbal skills.
• Ability to work with multiple teams at all levels and personalities, in cross-cultural teams.
• Data-oriented personality.
