Job Description
Data Manager at GEMS Founders School AL Mizhar is responsible to drive a data culture forward within the school and co ordinate and administer the efficient running of the School’s academic information management systems (ISAMS) in order to support the School’s mission statement.
Responsibilities of Data Manager
- Working with external teams – ALPS, Learning Leaders, and Phoenix team.
- Cultivating positive relations with all external teams to develop their systems to meet the school’s requirements and customize platform features according to the School’s needs.
- Providing developmental and constructive feedback to the external teams for effective use of the product.
- Coordinating and guiding Data Leaders across the school regarding the working and effective use of Phoenix.
- Ensuring accuracy in data entry at all points.
- Maintaining transparency in the methodology followed and the analysis of the data at all times.
- Liaising with the Timetable manager to ensure fair distribution and support in resolving any challenges related to curriculum expansion. Supporting the Timetable Manager in linking the Timetable on Units with Phoenix.
- Working closely with the Digital and Innovation leader to ensure the school team is with latest technological developments.
- Coordinating with the Data team across the school in grouping, scheduling, mark entry, release of report cards, and promotion of students on both Phoenix, Learning Ladders, and KHDA.
- Designing and creating Pastoral points, Mark book, and report card templates on Phoenix and KHDA, based on requirements or modifications in the assessment policy and behavior policy for effective tracking, monitoring, and interventions to support teaching and learning.
- Establishing an effective tracking and monitoring system for Lesson observations, notebook scrutiny, learning walks, and staff performance levels to ensure continuity in effective teaching and learning strategies in place at all times.
- Sharing the data with the Senior Leadership Team (SLT) every 6 weeks and updating the School Effectiveness Framework (SEF).
- Conducting surveys and sharing the survey responses with the SLT.
- Providing support in developing the Academic Calendar.
Job Requirements
The requirements for the job role of Data Manager are as under:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field, such as Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science, Information Management, or Business Administration.
- 2-5 year experience in similar role.

- A logical and relaxed individual able to interact and understand the emotional needs of a variety of students/staff from different backgrounds and cultures.
