The Arabian Center for Climate and Environmental Sciences (ACCESS) at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Scientific Data Analyst. ACCESS is currently producing data from a wide variety of sources, including Oceanographic Instruments (ADCPs, multiparameter loggers, profilers), Atmospheric Instruments (air quality stations), Genomic Sequencing, Atmospheric and Ocean circulation models, and drones.

Role of Scientific Data Analyst

The primary responsibility of Scientific Data Analyst at NYU includes Designing, Implementing and Managing Open-source, Full-stack data solutions. Also, Storing, Analyzing, Backing up, and making available the Scientific data produced by the center.

Responsibilities of Scientific Data Analyst

• Designing, implementing and managing open-source, full-stack data solutions for storing.
• Analyzing, backing up, and making available the scientific data produced by the center.
• Gathering data from sensor devices, especially oceanographic / water quality / atmospheric.
• Working with large gridded datasets stored in the net CFD or similar data format.
• Managing and developing for HPC environments by using, managing / analyzing genomic data, embedded programming and IoT devices; acquiring and processing drone imagery.
• Willingness in helping in field data-acquisition missions (both on land or at sea) would be appreciated.

Education & Experience

• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science/ Engineering.
• 3-4 years of pervious experience in similar role.
• Provable experience in full-stack development and strong database-related skills.
• Linux system manager with excellent knowledge of the Python programming language.
• Provable experience in data stewardship, with some previous experience working with scientific data is preferable.
